Movin’ On Up

I have some big news about Womeninc: we’re moving!
For the past two years, we have been located just outside of Fairmont, MN, near the industrial park. But, as of June 1, we are moving right into town!
Our new address will be 322 E Blue Earth Avenue, Fairmont. The building has a lot of great things going for it: first of all, location. It’s right on a main thoroughfare so that people can easily stop in and visit! (Please come see us!) It also has a special, home-like charm to it, offering amenities such as wood floors, cozy office spaces and a kitchen! There are a few of us at Womeninc that are pretty excited about that last part – we’ll be able to bake cookies for guests or to try out new recipes for the magazine – it’ll be great!
In honor of this big step from our current location to the one on Blue Earth Avenue, I want to reflect on where we are now and have been for the past two years.
So, in case you’ve ever wondered what the Womeninc offices look like, you can wonder no more. Here’s a tour of our current Fairmont office building.

This is my office. My desk is hardly ever this clean but – for the picture – I even dusted.
The table serves a lot of purposes – typically, it is the home to notes and papers co-workers bring by my office. It’s also where I have meetings with potential expert writers. And, it’s where the proofing team gathers once a month to go through the magazine before uploading it to the printer.

To the left of my desk is a pretty antique-white cabinet. It displays a wide variety of things from The Chicago Manual of Style to my old “Katie Sauck” name plate. And, those weed things. I’m not sure where they came from but, I like ‘em.

This is my desk in all its messy glory. My poor prayer calendar is always a week behind and the only writing utensil I ever use is my favorite PaperMate clicky pencil. The other must have is the can of Diet Pepsi.
I love Diet Pepsi.

The photos above my desk include an 8 x 10 wedding photo and a picture of Jordan’s cowboy boots. Then, the messy bulletin board on the right, by the window, is home to a few cards and letters from Womeninc readers – and, of course, a list of deadlines for the magazine.
So, that pretty much sums up my office. Coming soon: the rest of the building!
