Favorite food?

Chocolate, but I can’t eat it. My Doctor took me off chocolate and caffeine because of migraine headaches. The worst thing to do for a woman is to take her chocolate away!!!

Who’s someone you admire and why?

I admired my Aunt Marlys. She was always a joy to be around. My sister and I spent many a day at her house visiting and staying over. She always seemed to make work fun. We would crank the tunes and do cleaning and other work and it didn’t seem to be a chore. Her music was from the 60s. The memories come flying back in when I hear one of her favorite songs. I also loved having her do my hair. She was a great beautician and I would just have her experiment with perms and cuts. Aunt Marlys was taken from us much too young – she is sadly missed.

What’s your hidden talent?

I can play piano. I usually don’t play for anyone but myself and my daughter. She loves to sing while I play.

What’s your favorite book?

I don’t seem to have time to read books right now! I did read a series when I was younger that started with Flowers in the Attic by V. C. Andrews. The series continued with Petals on the Wind, If There Be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday. It was about some kids that were locked up in an attic. There are probably more in the series that I don’t know about. I would have to start all over though before I continued on to refresh my memory. (I really do enjoy reading Womeninc though.)

My perfect day…

Would be relaxing outside in the hot warm sun with a good magazine and something cool to drink with not a worry in the world.

What’s your favorite memory?

Going to stay at my grandma and grandpa’s house during the fair. A few of us cousins would go every year. We would spend the money we earned from walking the bean fields at my uncle’s plus Grandpa would give us some spending money. We would have to do some house cleaning for him first though. Another joy was going to the grocery store to pick out what we wanted to eat while there. We usually did a pork roast with mashed potatoes with half and half in them. None of us could make gravy so we’d have to have my mom come and do that.

Another favorite memory was going to Grandma and Grandpa’s on Saturday afternoon for coffee and rolls. My aunt would fix my grandma’s hair while the rest of us would clean the house then we’d sit down and visit over coffee and fresh bakery rolls. That doesn’t seem to happen anymore.

My pet peeve is…

Losing my keys in my purse. They always seem to bury themselves down to the bottom on the side I’m not looking. Then there are times they aren’t even in my purse, they are in my coat pocket or on the counter.

What helps you handle stress?

I haven’t figured it out yet. I do best when I’m at someone else’s house where I can’t see all the stuff that needs to be done. I can really relax then. At home and work it just eats away at me.
