A New Style

Mary Robin was excited for a whole new look. The last time she went to a salon, the Madison Lake, Minnesota, woman asked the stylist to do something drastic – but was disappointed when she walked out an hour later with just a trim.
After spending a morning at La Pre’Chel Salon & Spa in Waseca, Minnesota, Mary has the style she always hoped for. The salon’s owner Amy Prechel Bohlen and stylist Jaclyn Krivachek treated Mary to a new color, haircut, style, brow shaping, makeup and manicure to complete her new look.
Amy and Jaclyn gave Mary a wispy cut that is both fun and sophisticated. When they met Mary, Amy and Jaclyn looked at her facial shape and skin tone. “We find this so important in determining the type of hairstyle and color that will look the best for our clients,” Amy says. “With Mary, her face shape was oval with a high forehead, therefore she needed some softness around her face and longer bangs that blend with the style to create balance.” They gave her a versatile style to compliment her lifestyle, giving her the option to wear it flipped out or under, curly or straight.
“Creating the perfect color and makeup for Mary was just as important as her haircut. We chose a rich brown color to set off her striking blue eyes. By doing this, her features became more defined,” Amy says. “To complete her dramatic new look, we evened out her skin tone, used a dark plum eye shadow and cool tones for her cheeks and lips.”
Mary was pleased with the makeover. “It’s a big change, but it has been really fun,” Mary says. “The new cut and color have given my hair personality. It has also been a boost of confidence – I’ve gotten so many compliments!”
Amy and Jaclyn were happy with the results as well. “We were excited to give Mary a new look,” Amy says. Because Mary is a busy mom of three, Amy wanted to see Mary with an updated look that was easy to style. Jaclyn agreed and says, “It was great seeing Mary’s eyes light up with the big reveal of the makeover. You could tell she loved the results the minute she saw herself.”
