Building a new home can be an overwhelming task. Oftentimes, after everything is said and done, homeowners regret not including simple things such as a drop zone for keys and mail or a toaster drawer in the kitchen to cut down on countertop clutter. That’s not the case when you build with Rachael and Larry Weissenburger, owners of Rosewood Homes in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They are an exclusive woman-centric builder, meaning they design and build homes based on the homeowner’s personality and how a family lives.
Larry and Rachael became the Sioux Empire’s exclusive woman-centric homebuilder nearly two years ago and have found that it enriches the entire building process. In order to build a home with woman-centric elements, Rachael says, “I really need to get to know the woman before we begin designing.” To start, she asks the woman to take an online woman-centric quiz. “There are four personalities that come with it. The quiz helps figure out the kind of home that would actually fit your life.” Next, Rachael meets with the person in their current house. “We walk through the entire home. In the kitchen we talk about where the toaster drawer should go and how many outlets she’d like above the counter. We also discuss ways to eliminate clutter by incorporating drop zones in the new home.” Before Larry and Rachael even begin building, they know that everything will have its place.
They also know the budget. “When you come to us, the very first thing we talk about is your budget, location and other things you are looking for. Before we dig, I help get everything picked out for the home. That usually takes three weeks. Everything has to be picked out before we dig just so we stay within their budget,” Rachael says.
Larry and Rachael are committed to building houses that fit the homeowner’s lifestyle. “We try to notice the little things that make a big difference and we care about every element of the design and building process,” Rachel says. “My house is not much different from the neighbor’s house except, as the builder, I know exactly what is going to go in each of the homeowner’s cupboards. That’s where the woman-centric comes in.”
