1940’s Radio Hour

by on in Events

The Winnebago Area Musical Players are proud to present The 1940’s Radio Hour, written by Walton Jones.

The 1940’s Radio Hour takes the audience to a live radio broadcast of the Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade on December 21, 1942. This special program is being broadcast to the troops overseas from the tiny New York radio station WOV. The “WOV family of performers” consists of an engaging cast of characters who work other jobs by day and perform live radio by night, with a potpourri of music, dancing, and comedy.

The production is a nostalgic trip through the music of the 1940’s and includes such classics as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Ain’t She Sweet, Blue Moon, Blues in the Night, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. The show is directed by Rob Nelson, with John Engesser as musical director.

Production dates are Friday April 16th at 7:30 pm, Saturday April 17th at 7:30 pm, and Sunday April 18th at 2:00 pm at the Winnebago Elementary Auditorium.  Tickets can be purchased at First Financial Bank in Winnebago or at the door.  Reserved seats are $7.00, and general admission tickets are $6.00.
